london-friend day

A few weekends ago we took a day trip to London to visit two of our dear friends who are both studying there this year. Gretchen, a friend from Brandon's hometown and Roland, a friend from SES. I don't think it's too late to give a little outline of our trip:

We explored one of the less-tourist-trodden areas of London - Camden Town. Maybe there aren't less tourists - there were gazillions of people, maybe it's just less well known. Or maybe I just didn't know about it. :) Here there are lots of "eccentric" people and a market that is miles around. Much of the market is in old brick horse tunnels and catacombs. It was Brandon's birthday weekend as well and as his special treat he wanted to eat "American" Chinese food. We really miss that stuff.

Gretchen took us to a very old-world wine bar that is basically in a cellar. It was very damp dingy and drippy down there but it made for the perfect ambiance!

Next we took in some of the beautiful London night-sights and Brandon smoked his new pipe by the Thames.

We ate some pizza and then hopped the bus home. It was an action packed day and was such great fun to see them both.
